High def graphics vers a computer?

Why is it that the best computer alienwares, can't produce the graphics the xbox 360 can? I have both and I put the best graphics card I could into it and the xbox 360 still blows it out of the water. Shouldn't it be that the xbox 360 should have trouble keeping up with my computer? not the other way around? if you look at the gears of war game graphics and then the elder scrolls oblivion on computer you will notice the graphics look way different. why is this?

I am thinking of getting the Dell Vostro 200 ST (D04S007) Desktop PC The graphics cards are listed below I want it to have HDMI out, but after looking at these graphics cards on Ebay I am not sure if they do, maybe only having DVI to HDMI as a pose to HDMI. Can anyone confirm or deny this? thanks.

Agreed, you need the DVI to HDMI adapter for those cards.

On the plus side the Radeon series can output sound and video through the DVI port if you have the right adapter and drivers.

On the down side I had a huge pain in the butt getting those drivers to work on my computer.

....hmmm should note I've only used the 2400PRO variety not the XT, but as the only difference is the clock speeds I would expect them to be the same with HDMI adapter.

ok i have a new Acer computer. it has ATI Radeon 1250 series integrated graphics but i want to replace it with a NVidia 8600GT graphics card for PCI Express x16. i was told that in order for my graphics card to function at its best i must disable my integrated graphics or the card will not perform any better than the integrated. is this true and if so how?

it is true on some system. however, there are some system that automatically disables the onboard graphics the moment it detects the video card. to be sure, go to your BIOS and see if you can find something relating to onboard video.

After you put the 8600 in boot up into bios and disable your onboard graphics there. I'd even uninstall the ATI drivers to free up resources after you're happy with the 8600. Don't even bother with the drivers on the CD that come with the card. Go to Nvidias website and download the latest drivers from there onto your desktop and use them from the get go.

Make sure your power supply has enough watts and +12V amps to run an 8600GT. With the 8600GT being replaced by the just released 9600GT there are some really sweet deals on the 8600s.

If your computer has a pci express x16, it should automatically disable ur integrated graphics when running from your new nvidia 8600. also to mention, after you install the card, download the drivers for it at the website or the cd that comes wit it cuz if u dont...PHAIL....hope this help, and geforce 8600 gt is a nice card btw

This is a very confusing question, despite quite a bit of research I confessed to being a bit confused.

This comment may help :-

Intel 945 chipset has the GMA 950 integrated graphics. It will only work with the GMA 950 driver.

However I can't find a specific 950 driver!! Damned Microsoft!!!

All I can now suggest it that you contact your laptop supplier and or Microsoft to resolve this issue.

I recently downloaded "Small Rockets Backgammon" to dabble with occasionally. But I have noticed that when playing, the processor (P4 2.93Ghz) goes at around 85% with the cooling fan going for it as well! There is nothing wrong with the PC, it is virus-free, over 1Gb of RAM and perfectly working. The graphics are fairly detalied in the game, so could it be that the "onboard graphics (=none)" on my PC are simply having to work overtime via the CPU to handle everything? Would getting a graphics card lessen the load on the processor?

Oh...dear friend, dont worry, as long as your games works properly you dont have to bother about its working process, even I do have the same process, even I noticed like you, my PC Pentium D 2.8GHz 512MB RAM was working around 87-90% while playing NFS Carbon.

not really because the processor has then got to run your graphics chip whitch would probablly slow it down more.

what you need to do is close all other background programs and exit all the un-needed programs on the start bar (bottom right of your computer screen)

Go to walmart,buy a pci vid card for like 70 bucks,and you will notice a decent improval in graphic apps.

Of course since I dont know what OS you are running,I would suggest driver updates,or attempt to run program in compatability mode.

You dont have to have an off board vid card,but it does take some of the pressure off the cpu and ram.

Your cpu can be just attempting to keep up with all the applications with the computer. Do you need a video card to help? It might not be a bad idea. The graphics for an on-board video uses the cpu and the graphics chipset to do all the work. A video card can lessen the load a little as the video card gpu will handle some of the information and you will see improvement in image quality.

You also indicate that you are using 1gb of ram. This is good, but with all the new applications, I would recommend 2gb.

You need to upgrade the amount of RAM your system has....you should be running at least 1gb of RAM with any high setailed game and an upgrade to your video card would be nive, at least a 256 MB video card. Together you can buy both upgrades for around 140 dollars.

You might just need a new video card . I would prefer one of the NVIDIA cards. IF you want the best video cards around you should go for the NVIDIA 8800's but could cost you alot, just try searching for a 256mb card or higher and you should be okay. You will also need some more RAM.

No, ATI Radeon Mobility is somewhat LESS than the desktop equivalent, and use a different set of drivers. They are *roughly* equivalent to their desktop cousins of the same number, but NOT the same.

Desktop that came with Radeon are low-end stuff, like X300 or X1200 or so. These can use the same drivers as the discrete cards (i.e. aftermarket).

Intel video /graphics should be avoided as much as possible. They lack features that has been in video cards for 4-5 years now (namely, hardware T%26amp;L)
