I ran a program to find out what graphics card slots i have, it displyed this -
Bus(es) - ISA AGP PCI IMB USB i2c/SMBus
I can see AGP in there and was just double checking if that is the slot i should buy a new graphics card for, also what does the rest of that mumbo jumbo mean, sorry i really dont know alot about computers.
Also i have seen graphics cards that require AGP 8x and AGP16x, is my computer compatable. Bascicly im looking for a graphics card that will support my specifications (see below) and will allow me to play newish games such as call of duty 4.
Iqon Technologies Phillips PC Intel (R)
Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz (dual proccessor)
960mb of RAM
Microsoft Windows XP Proffesional (5.1, Build 2600)
Currently running 64MB SG3 UniChrome Pro IGP.
Any info much appreciated
Graphics card slot help?
Hmmmm, okay! You have a AGP slot, buy a graphics card that will fit AGP. This stands for Accelerated Graphics Port, and is faster than your PCI slot you have, which is faster than the ISA slot you have,(Sound of sucking in air real quick).
Illustration of ISA slot/s:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industry_St...
(They're Black in color)
PCI slots and AGP slot,(Usually the AGP slot in older motherboards is Brown. This is a newer mobo,(motherboard), than your's.

Information on AGP:

I believe you may be a little confused on the AGPx16 thing. The AGP slot is 8 times faster,(not at first, but as technology of the day evolved), than a PCI slot. The PCI-Express technology was developed to evolve beyond the AGP.
Info on PCI-Express:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express (Started with PCI-Express, developed into PCI-Express x16. Now it's PCI-Express 2.0, and 3.0 is on it's way.
What does all this jargon mean to you? Let's start with just learning about the Bus technology itself:

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

AGP graphics card for your computers specs, and the game:

If you really want to have less lag, and decent graphics, these are my opinion of the best AGP vid card/s.
Edit: Oh yeah, see if your mobo will support 2GB's of ram. It's probably DDR, maybe DDR2. How to know exactly? Go to Crucial.com, and use their free Crucial System Scanner Tool. It'll tell you how much ram you have now, what slots it's in, what kind it is, how much is the maximum you can install, and how much is the maximum for each slot. Plus recommendations on possible upgrades for your ram. You don't have to buy from them. Tigerdirect.com, and Newegg.com have good deals on Ram.
Graphics card slot help?
You can still pick up AGP Gcards but I think that most of the high end cards now use PCI Express slots, a different type of slot. Dont worry about the Bus(es).
Without knowing how long you've had your computer its difficult to offer any advice, but looking at the specs you've listed I dont think your going to be able to meet the requirements of most new games.
TBH if you dont know too much about computers, find someone who does that can have a look for you or take it in to your local shop, that'll probably save you loads of heartache and frustration!
Graphics card slot help?
USB - pretty obvious, everyone knows what a USB slot is, pretty much everthing from ipods to sat navs have usb cables.
PCI are the slots which are below your video card slot and you put network cards, TV cards, PCI cooling cards, extra USB slots etc in them. theres about 3/4 for every mother board below the video card slot.
the others i dont know. i do, but not very deeply and dont want to be all vague and leave you with less idea than you already had. google them and it will come up.
to play COD 4 and get the graphics that you expect from such a high quality game you need atleast nVidea 8 series or equivelent, which with your specifications, not happening.
Upgrade your ram for a start, atleast 2GB to play it. you can keep your RAM you have already and buy 2 sticks of 1GB for about 拢20-拢30. i recomend going to www.overclockers.co.uk . I had their cheapest 2GB RAM set ( http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlis... ) (thats their memory section of the site) for 拢24 i think.
BUT!!!!!!!!!! if you get new RAM check that its compatible with your system. really easy way to do this: take your current RAM out (only one stick) and check the label on it. look for the timings, which is #-#-#-## , so for example, mine is 5-5-5-12 timings. also, check the MHz of it, for example mine is 800MHz. if your RAM isnt the same then either 1) the memory will not work with each other, so your system will be unstable and your hard drive may become corrupt because the RAM will be recieving and sending corrupt information. 2) the RAM and motherboard wont be compatible, in which case you cant even start your system beyond bios because it wont be able to use the RAM so wont load to prevent your system from becoming damaged. So you will have a system with 960 MB memory still, and 2 sticks of 1GB RAM which are useless
ALSO!! dont get any more than 2GB, XP wont allow more than 3GB of ram altogether, so if you get 2 1GB sticks your on your limit and cant go any higher
Graphics card slot help?
yes along u got agp it will work
Graphics card slot help?
Ok if you have a agp slot then you can upgrade. However you will need to get a card that will meet the minimum req

100% Windows庐 XP/Vista compatible mouse, keyboard and latest drivers
6X DVD-ROM Drive
HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
CPU: Intel庐 Pentium庐 4 2.4 Ghz / AMD庐 64鈩?2800+ / Intel庐 and AMD庐 1.8 Ghz Dual Core Processor or better supported

And your agp slot would be either 4x\8x the 16x slots are pci-e which is a newer tech.
You can find agp cards here.
