I am running a P4 2.8 GHZ 1 GB of RAM.
I am stuck with Intels Extreme Graphics 2 and my computer does not
support APG or PCI-Express graphics cars. I have heard that regular PCI cards arent very reliable and sometimes the integrated graphics are better. I am wanting to know 3 things:
Is my integrated graphics enough to support a high demanding game considering i have a Gig of RAM?
If not is the PCI card worth the investment or is it a waste of doh?
Am I screwed?
Integrated Graphics Dillemma?
Integrated graphics are not designed for gaming, especially those demanding games everyone knows about. Integrated graphics are just really basic video cards. Integrated graphics uses system resources for displaying purposes, it uses part of your CPU and memory.
PCI video cards are NOT worth the investment for gaming, you might as well be better off getting a new motherboard or PC that supports PCI-Express x16.
I think you are not 100% screwed but your down there (~85% screwed sorry to say) . You can get a PCI video card to help ease system resources so you can game a little better but I believe you won't be able to play Battlefield 2 or Counter-Strike:Source, or something that demanding.
Integrated Graphics Dillemma?
Integrated graphics lack the power to efficiently run newer games such as HL2 and BF2. PCI cards are almost a waste of money. My best advice is to buy a new motherboard that supports your processor and ram. You should be able to find a newer motherboard that will support pci express or even AGP, though AGP doesn't have much of a future. You should be able to find a motherboard for under $100 brand new.

stick with your inigrated graphics, since it is the Intel's Extreme Graphics 2, it will probably support Counter Strike, but im not sure about Battlefield 2, the Geforce 6600 GT JUST met the requirements for BF2, not sure if the Extreme Graphics 2 can meet up to the demands
