Poor Graphics Performance of brand new laptop?

I just purchased an HP nx6310 Laptop with an Intel Dual Core processor, 1GB of RAM and Intel GMA950 shared graphics with 128MB of shared video memory. For some reason, graphics like images on websites and DVDs are really pixelated and blocky. The graphics of my old Dell (1.4GHz Celeron, 256MB RAM and 64MB shared graphics) were much better. Why could this be??

Is a common misconception that the more video memory will improve the Windows Desktop and other 2D applications.

The problem that you have is related to the higher resolution in your new laptop. normally a older laptop will have a resolution of 1024 by 768 but any newer laptop with a larger screen ็ปก?and most likely you have a wide screen LCD), will have a bigger resolution. then something that appears normal in the older one, with the laptop will appears very small. What happens is that the Internet explorer try to fix that image (and also some program use the Internet explorer subsystem to display images, like the dvd software) but the Internet explorer is not able to fix those image in the proper way, and that is the reason you have that issue.

just to very that, try opening a image maybe with paint or any other image viewer, and if you have the same issue there, then is something else, but if the problem is more common in Internet website, most likely is only one setting in the Internet explorer

For more inof about the issue, please check the Microsoft's website:

Go into Control Panel...Display Properties and then into advanced...and check all your graphics settings...sounds like either dpi or resolution issue!

You can try Microsoft.com. There you click on download center, then type in graphic cards. Some free downloadable graphic cards might pop-up for you HP computer. Don't worry, they take you step-by-step on how to uninstall your old one and reinstall the new one. I hope this helps. Good Luck.

It really does sound like it is a resolution issue. Make sure in your graphics properties that the resolution is set to 1280x800 or higher. And that the color is set to 24-bit or higher.
