Graphics Base Score Dropped. HELP?

My graphics score has dropped from 3.8 to 2.1. Any ideas.My gaming graphics have stayed the same. A miserable 2.3. i have not installed any hardware before this happened. But did just install 2GB ram and boosted it from 2.0 to 4.2. kingston value 17.99 a gig at play.com. Any thoughts on my graphics well appreciated........cheer,s.

Well, what could have happened is that Microsoft updated their WEI (Windows Experience Index) to better suit todays market. As new hardware comes out everything else drops in rating and the new hardware is placed on top so its understandable that your hardware may have dropped a little on the rating scale because faster hardware was introduced into the market and your now being compared to something even faster than before.

hi dave,i think james has hit the nail on the head,however the index is only a guide,its a bit like futuremarks 3d mark which benchmarks your graphic card,i can run this one day and get 12000,then the next day i get just 11500,it all depends on how you p.c is behaving on that day

another reason could be spyware,this would slow down your base line score,

however to drop from 3.8 to 2.1 is a big drop,normally a baseline would only drop around 0.1

Windows Experiance Index is rubbish, i have 2 Nvidia 8800GTX cards, a spanking new Quadcore Processor and Motherboard, and Raptor Hard drives and it only gives me 3, which i know is bullsh*t for definate

well windows struggles with 4gb memory and if you have vista this could be the source of your problems. try running the test again without the additional 2gb memory in and see if you get your original score?my score is 4.2 with a geforce fx 5900xt and 1gb mem, 3.2 duel core processor and my missus gets 5.3 with a core duo 1gb mem and an geforce 8500gt card. we both have vista.
