What kind of Graphics Card would I need to get to play Call of Duty 4?

I know practically nothing about computers or graphics cards, but I want to get Call of Duty 4 for the PC, and am almost positive my graphics card wouldn't work. I have an Intel(r) 82865g graphics controller acording to my computer. I just need a link to a place where I could buy a graphics card that would work. I was also thinking of getting Call of Duty 2, and I'm pretty sure any graphics card that would work with 4 would work with 2, but as I said, I know nearly nothing about computers, so I just want to be sure.

There's no way that any onboard graphics chip on your motherboard is going to work for these games!!!

If you really want to play these games you need a vidcard with some Muscle...so plan on spending at least $200...

You will need to know what kind of expansion slot you have for that, whether it be an AGP (Advance Graphics Port) or PCI-E (PCI Express x16) Slot for a addon graphics card. So you need to look up the Specifications of your Motherboard to see what it has...

After that, the choice is yours as to how much to spend and the power of the card...The Higher the Clock Speed, Memory %26amp; Processing Bits it uses the better!!!

I personally use a eVGA Nvidia 8800GTS SuperClocked. (80gbs) ($300)

This plays COD4 and any other games with all the Graphics settings to High or Ultra high. (In otherwords ALL the Eye Candy is turned on!) with high screen resolutions.

My advice - spend as much as you can possibly afford %26amp; get the fastest graphics available at your maximum price.

Honestly, anything much under an 8800gt these days is going to be staggery and low res for a lot of new games, and thats assuming that the rest of your hardware is pretty schmick.

well as "MUff1N" said your on-board graphics wont be any where close to good enough. it also depends on how much your willing to spend the minimum graphical requirements for call od duty 4 is a NVIDIA Geforce 6600 (which isn't all that expensive) or better but the recommended is a Nvidia Geforce 7800 or better (which is more money but will allow you to play some of the games coming out later and should last longer than a 6600).you can buy a 6800 here (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/... which is the cheapest i found and you can buy a 7800 from here (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/... which is the cheapest i found but there may be cheaper if you look around more. I'd personaly go with the 7800 even though its more expencive.Tiger Direct is a great place to buy computer products by the way.
