Graphics Card Problem! Cannot insert card into PCI-E slot! HELP!?

I have recently bought a graphics Card for a special gaming upgrade to my pc.

There was originally a RADEON X300(128MB) PCI-E X16 and yestd I tried 2 remove and insert the new one which you can find here:

http://reviews.cnet.com/graphics-cards/a...

Its an Asus Extreme Ati Radeon X1600 PRO(256MB)..1 more thing:the picture of the card in cnet.com is not quite the same as the 1 i have!any suggestion??

but it did not fit! there's only a few millimetres difference!

my friend told me to buy only PCI-E cards and that's what I bought but its not being fitted!

I have an ASUS PG5D1-FM motherboard and its clearly written next to the pci slot: "PCI-E X16 SLOT"

PLEASE HELP ME OUT!

is there any way to make this graphics card work?

I need to try NFS RO STREET ASAP!

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

Its probably because your motherboard has PCI EXPRESS but not 16...

There is

PCI Express x1

PCI Express x16

PCI Express 2.0

Also what motherboard do you have?

What color is the slot for the graphics card? Is it brown, green, or black?

Its possible that your friend is wrong, and the whole time you have AGP and he just thought you had PCI E.

PCI E x1 looks like this

(b) PCI-E x16 slots are all the same.

I not real sure. Look at the picture from Newegg of a motherboard (MOBO). You will see the card slots. See the long 4 white slots and to the right is one that is green. These are different and you may be trying the wrong slot.

Check the box, see if it actually is that model. If not, ring the company you bought it off or try Asus/ATI support.

youve bought a pci card not a pcie

Graphics Card Problem! Cannot insert card into PCI-E slot! HELP!?

You have bought a PCI card and are trying to fit it into a PCI-E slot. See if your motherboard has a PCI slot as that's what you'll need to fit the card into. Either that or just go and buy another PCI-E card.

hi mate

theres only one type of pci-express graphic interface and thats the x16 bandwidth,so this has to be either a issue with the card or the actual motherboard

the card may of been manufactured with a flaw in the pins which go onto the slot or the motherboards pci-express slot may be at fault, however this is rare, have you checked the slot itself, use a can of "compressed air" better known as a "air duster" and spray along the slot to blast any foreign objects clear,if theres something stuck in the pci-e slot then this will stop the card from inserting correctly

have you got another pci-express x16 motherboard ,if so try inserting the new card in that slot,if it dosent fit then its obviously a problem with the card,so return it under the warranty and get a replacment

note :remember that a pci-express motherboard sometimes has a securing clip like a agp slot, make sure this isnt the problem and also dont force the card,i found this problems when i got my first pci-express card,i thought it wouldnt fit but it was getting stuck by the case end of the card, and once i sorted this out it fitted perfect

any problems let me know

good luck mate !
